Another odd thing was how much peening was needed to tighten the pivot. I don't know if the brass is different or has hardened some how but it took more blows to tighten it up enough than it usually...

The Ivory just shrinks. Crazy coincidence that the cracks are so similar.

I did nothing more with the steel than rub it well with Mother's. There are still fine pits and scratches but so much of the original finish is there I saw little reason to mess with it....
