Yes. I used a small butane torch and then lightly sanded it to the color I liked. It is just a darker purple in the sunlight, not black. Looks great.

Not completely sure, but we are thinking between 1900 and 1920. Someone else on the site may know a little more about the dating.

My father and I spent some time together in his wood shop this weekend restoring my great grandfather's Straight Razor. Not bad way to start Spring Break.
