I scored another very old razor that has no tail. Under battery powered magnification, thanks to Hirlau & his Pro'sKit 22x LED Handheld Magnifier, it is hard to tell if it was made that way or not.

Here's one I got not long ago that is hard to make out the writing on the tang. My guess would be late 1700's, early 1800's. It has a very short tail. I could be wrong though.........
