Unknown Old Find
Here's one I got not long ago that is hard to make out the writing on the tang. My guess would be late 1700's, early 1800's. It has a very short tail. I could be wrong though.........

Thanked: 4249The pressed horn scales on this razor looks absolutely amazing, the blade is quite worn but im pretty sure the tang stamp is "Angleterre", a french translation of England. Quite common during that period for English cutlers to use translation as a trademark.

That looks like zak's area of expertise. I would shoot him a PM.

I scored another very old razor that has no tail. Under battery powered magnification, thanks to Hirlau & his Pro'sKit 22x LED Handheld Magnifier, it is hard to tell if it was made that way or not.

The scales look like a typical French shape from the early 1800s.
