That's an interesting one.
I've never seen the mark before. I see there are jimps on the top, which is interesting but not really indicative of much.
The quality of the scale pressing isn't quite up to snuff for the weird, generic razors sold primarily for the quality of their scales, so it was probably simply a small cutlery firm that made it, and the idea was probably to make it look like a French -- and therefore trendy and stylish -- razor. Nice oldie Steve. Will you try to clean it up and hone? It should be interesting to shaving with a razor which was forged two centuries ago. Who knows what this razor has been through.

Interesting that I've been seeing more 18th early 19th century razors lately, I've been looking myself lately, I like the idea of owning a razor from that has a date beginning with the year "17"....
