BTW, if you work on/polish the blade of a full hollow, you should support it as it will flex just like too much pressure on the hone. It’s possible to damage a blade, so make sure that it’s supported...

Couple of other possibilities,

There was some grit on the stone, either contamination or from the edge of the stone.
Solution: rinse the stone and razor well before honing, smooth the edges
