I think you maybe right, it sounds like a ceramic when I tap on it. Any other material wouldn't be as resonate. Here's a photo of the bottom. The shiny area looks like glass.

It's a hard plastic of some kind maybe Bakelite. Like I said it has no seams like an injection mold even on the bottom. Also the hair looks like Boar and feels velvety smooth like Badger. I'll post a...
