How would I go about making a slurry on it? It behaves like the translucent, the oil gets some black swarf as you hone, obviously not visible on the black stone so it just shows up on the white paper...

The stone is hard, can't say if it's exactly like the translucent arkansas but much more like that than the escher for example.
