Taking a 30k or a Highly finished edge back to an 8k will put scratches on the edge but it won't necessarily dull the edge..

I am already seeing people trying different applications of the 4k and the 8k I have read most all of the SOTD posts and people seem to be getting "Good" shaves in just the first two days of this......
