I guess the only thing I can add is have been using olive oil for a few years now. If a rifle was to be put away for a long time I would use mineral oil.

For what its worth, I use extra virgin olive oil obtained from a local Italian family. Works really well in my rifle bores, particularly muzzel loaders, does not foul like say WD 40.
