A dram of Laphroaig Quarter Cask for me this evening

Caol Ila 12 yr for me tonight. I saved a bit in the glass and as a dessert, put a small spoonful of good ice cream in the glass. The Caol Ila coated the ice cream. A nice micro treat.

Good choice. Ardbeg 10 is one of my all time favorites. If I live the rest of my days always having a bottle of it to draw from when I'm inclined, such a notion just seems right.

I've had both. I would recommend the Edradour over the Deanston. You know how you remember drams that are unimpressive to you? Deanston is that for me.

Talisker 10. More than any other scotch for me, Talisker 10 has a fresh cracked black pepper bite to it. It's so unique that way for me. My cabinet wouldn't feel complete without a bottle even...

My second and final scotch and soda this evening was made with the last of a bottle of Oban 14 I had. I liked it well enough neat, but not spectacular for me.

I have not been that impressed with the Auchentoshan expressions I have tried. The triple distillation may be part of the reason. Not the complexity of other single malts. YMMV.

You can't go wrong. I alternate between Laphroaig 10 and Ardbeg 10.

Old Pulteney 12 yr last night. People refer to some whisky as a "sherry bomb". This is a "bourbon bomb". Lots of vanilla and a good amount of oak.

It gets more fruity and more nutty the longer it sits in the glass as I'm sure would the imbiber with a generous tipple...

I've had higher hopes for Jamesons and Bushmills as well. I have a bottle of Bushmills Single Malt 10 and occasionally go back to it, but I don't find it very complex and overall not very inspiring....
