I'll let you know when I open the lagavulin. I just checked the uk price, and I payed about the same but in Norway where everything's usually way more so I think I got a pretty good deal. Looks like master of malt have run out except for the small samples, but just over a fiver might not be worth it if you have to pay postage too.

    Default Glenfarclas 105

Glenfarclas 105 (Cask strength) whopping 60% ABV

There may be something wrong with my taste buds this evening. This whiskey aside from being sweet has a citrus tang that I have not had in a whisky. Think Tang orange drink with oak, sherry. Fruity. Juicy fruit gum.

I will have to try this again to be sure. I poured 30ml and added 12ml water which brings ABV down to around 43%

Unlike any other whisky I have had and....hmmm, it's weird. Could be my "taster". Another go 'round will be in order.

    Anyone else have an opinion?

There was no citrus note in the bottle I had but that was from a year or two ago.

I remembered we had a bottle in the bar of the hotel I work at and since I'm at work right now I just went and had a look for it. Turned out it wasn't glenfarclas, so I smelled the lagavulin instead.

Really nice! Less smoky/peaty than Laphroaig, which I l do love. The Bowmore, though, since it is lighter, makes a nice late night dram.
