Yeah, Tobermory 10 year old is a good choice. I'd like to try an older offering but they don't come cheap...

I finally picked up a bottle of Highland Park 12 this week. At about half of what I've paid for some of the Islay peat monsters, it's a pretty good all around whisky as some have reported. A little sweet and a little smokey, a nice change for this hellacious summer.

I've got about 10 bottles on my list of things to try. I actually don't know what to buy next...

Scotch/whiskey of the day
Yoichi is a better distillery, in my opinion. I also think that Japanese whiskies, as good as they are, aren't usually worth the inflated prices, so unless I found something that really caught my eye, I'd probably only buy if I could find them cheaper.
I currently have a bottle of Yamazaki and hakushu distiller's edition. One was bought in Japan, the other on offer in Costco. Probably wouldn't pay UK rrp for either, as there are better scotch whiskies that can be had for less money - don't know what the prices are like for those of you in the states though.
I would like to try something from miyagikyō distillery but their bottlings often seem to be only 50cl, which really makes it even less value for money.Last edited by PigHog; 07-22-2016 at 02:36 PM.
