My first bottle of Knob Creek and I must say it wont be my last. This is a wonderful spirit. So here's to the end of the day!

Something really cool happened today.
I walked into my usual spirit shop and was approached by one of the guys that knows that I am a true bourbon aficionado.
He held out a bottle that he said they found in the back and put "under the counter" for me.
To my amazement it was Old Weller Antique.
Anyone that knows bourbon well knows that Weller is made from the same mashbill and stored in the same warehouse as the very illusive Pappy Van Winkle's.
Pappy's is almost impossible to get and Weller is getting close. New batches of both only come out around the holidays and are distributed to a very select few shops in limited quantities. I have yet to even see either in person.
Well, let me tell you, this is probably the best bourbon that I've ever tasted...hands down. Wow!
Somewhat sweet with caramel notes, a little heat - 107 proof, and a delicious oaken finish.
If you ever get the opportunity to get your hands on a bottle...don't hesitate...Jump!

My cold is now in full force and I can't taste or smell anything. In addition, my throat needs numbing. Therefore, I am having several Evan Williams Black Label Bourbons (the big 1.75L bottle) with ice and water tonight. So far it's working quite well. Any post from me later than this one should take this into account.

Squeeze 1 lemon into a glass + 1/3 cup of honey + 1/2 cup of hot water + one shot your favorite bourbon.
Cures just about anything.Freddie

Thanked: 0Been looking for Weller for awhile but I lean towards Jim Beam Black for my everyday and some Blanton's for special occasions.

Thanked: 36I've been having a go at Atenco mezcal the last couple of days. Not sure if that counts for the whisky thread, but hey ho. It's pretty nice, vegetal, very slightly smoky in a yesterdays bonfire kind of way and with a black pepper spiciness. Interesting change from the scotch.

I just poured the last glass from my Springbank 10 y.o. This really reminds me of Laphroaig without the smokey peat flavor.
