In my limited experience, the 3k and 5k can be used either/or/both. But if you want to set bevels, I would highly recommend a 1k of some sort.

I like the 5 8 route with the Naniwas myself.

+1 on the 325 to lap. I'm using my DMT1200 to set bevels and I quite like it.
