I see it now. It looks like a good blade, whether the scales are original or not. IOW, it should be a good shaver once honed up. Therefore, not a total loss. Could be worse.

Like Glenn said, that second link shows a set of dd 'stainless' scales on whatever kind of blade it is. IIRC the dd stainless would have had stainless on the blade etch and the scales. Not sure about...
