I've used mine with water. I've also taken a small 325 DMT and created slurry and used it as you would a coticule starting with a milky slurry and diluting down to water. Of course it will cut faster...

As Sham said it is hard to tell from photos. Here is an old thread with photos for comparison to yours and some dialogue that might help.
