Russel this is dodging the question. I did not ask why sexual reproduction has been continued, but why it was *started* in the first place.... and while you state that one position is speculation...

This may be...but it could also equally be argued as the mark of a creator. Otherwise, it is a singularly excellent solution to the problem and has been with us at least as far back as the dinosaurs.

In other words, why the need for sexual reproduction at all. Single cell organisms reproduce quite fine without it, and presumably if we and everything else evolved from this, the program for this...

So...just wondering why you think there would be sexual reproduction instead of asexual...it isn't required in single cell organisms after all...? How would this occur by your explanation?

As point of fact, NONE of these have been observed. We can see the evidence of them, in multitudes (e.g. your photomultiplier reference) but we have never actually seen these particles which do not...
