I think you will find that the Shavemac absolutely blows away the tweezerman. Lathering time should be much less once you are used to it... -

I'm actually allergic to something that most badger brushes are treated with so I do it automatically with all new brushes..............but the cleaning and conditioning seem to be an accepted...

Very nice brush!
Only thing I can think of is if you did not shampoo and condition it before using it it might be reluctant at first to take on soap / cream.
