I think you could have left the toe alone & there was no need to grind away on the tang & stabiiiser as that part of the razor shouldn't touch the stones anyway. Possibly you could have just curved...

As Mike says it's pretty much past its use by date but you could practice on it.

If you do use a grinder to remove the stabiliser take care to not apply it to the wheel width ways you can tear...
