    Before you do, try rubbing the exposed area of wedge with some 1500 wetndri. It may just knock off enough of the shine to make it look congruent

    Black coloured wedges were often used...

    Black coloured wedges were often used traditionally with bone scales. I think that looks fine. Nice job.
