Not really Ed. It's easier to keep an edge sharp than to sharpen it when it's blunt.
Periodically doing 5 strokes on a 12 k could save you some postage :)

Initial cost is a thing but if you keep using a straight it's not so exe.
I thought my first strop was a big investment. $90 in 1983. I think that's about $3 per year. :)
