For that you'd need to use CA. I don't think an oil finish would keep anything in for a long time.

One tip for working with Padauk that I got from Jason, but haven't tried yet... Grind up some brass and use the dust to fill the pores before finishing the wood. It takes on a lovely metallic sheen.
