With soap, you start with the soap in it's original container, work the brush until you have the beginnings of a good lather, and then transfer to the scuttle.

Both are in the pic. The large has the brush in it. I have the large, and have a bit of trouble working the lather in it. Based on my experience, I would not order the smaller one.
