As you can see, it's far from NOS, but it is shiny, & in far better nick than the photo's imply.

Mine has, Max. The jimps continue top & bottom & you'd never know it was there, except for the slight relief in the original scales to allow for it.

Anything you put on there will hide water & trap it. The only blade I've had with one on is my Bergischer Löwe & I removed it. My Filly had had it's taken off by a previous owner.
