Personal preference...It is rumored, though, that soap provides more glide than cushion, while cream provides more cushion than glide when shaving. I combine them to, hopefully, get the best of both.Quote:

This is one of them early Sheffield Razors that has a good quality HT. Takes a super nice edge and holds it. i think its around HRC 59 witch is harder then most sheffields i tryd. love it

A nice shave. Loaded the brush with too much cream, hence, lather too thick, hence a bit of tugging on the first pass. Second pass, lather thinner, way better.
Need to get the hang of this. The Cuir Ottoman is by far my favourite from the collection of the sampler set of Parfum d'Empire. I finished all of them now and even though they are not labeled as for men or women, some were just very feminine and some robustly manly. The leathery scent of this one lasts a whole day and maintains most of its initial character, so consistency throughout is guaranteed. I like that. Not sure yet whether I will order the full bottle. SWMBO is still in doubt about it. We'll see.
I've not posted here in some time due to travel and events at home. About a month after the passing of my father, I was assigned to a month long training class. I can tell you the accommodations were not the best, but they could have been worse. The most difficult part was the lack of water pressure and my inability to use a good razor. I won't tell you what I shaved with for a month, most here would find it offensive.
On the weeks ends I was able to bike ride on the beach in the early morning hours for many miles and enjoy the sunrise, exercise and solitude. Kind of cleared my head after loosing Pop.
Anyway, had my first Straight Shave in more than a month. I had ordered another brush from Bill (Pixelfixed) before I left so it was waiting for me when I got home. I used it for the first time today. The man makes incredible brushes.
Both girls are now home and I'm feeling good after a sucko last few months. Tonight's shave just added to the day.
