One of my all time favorite go-to shaving soaps, Proraso Red, love it! The Proraso Blue is right up there as well....

Today I wanted a 100% french shaving, with a "rasoir de perruquier" (so without tail) from "Flaurine à Mazières" manufactured by Lécollier of Nogent in the 1860 (the stamp of the manufacturer is near the pin), in case of bad shaving behavior, I have in back up a 7/8 "Manhattan cutelry of Sheffield" from the same time area...

these tow wedges were restaured today using the same process (number of tape layer, stones...)



I have to say, (with kind of shame) that I did go for the british, the french was pulling too much ! I think the old french razors are more hard tempered, even the great and famous (at least on the french forum ) Lécollier in not just good as a middle class sheffield manufacturer ! That fact was know at the time : british steel rules the world (till the 1880)!

I followed Max's lead. Only top-notch ingredients for today's shave. Smooth in two with full protection from da Fat, so no balm.
Great way to start the week. Off to work tomorrow again after these well deserved days off. Have a good one gentlemen!

Headed back to work tomorrow after a 2 week and 2 day holiday vacation. I spent all of my time tearing out bathrooms and hanging sheetrock in my house. I'm torn as to whether I'm ready to go back to work or whether I wish I had 2 or 3 more weeks off to try and finish this renovation that I should have never had to do. One thing is for sure, I'm more tired now than when I got off of work the first day...
