Yes Dave! That is true. But despite his worn condition I like the razor very much! It is a very gentle razor and sharpening is very easy. I prefer razors that have already seen something.
By the way, I like your pictures very much!

    Default Victory shave

    Thursday
    P90X3 prep
    Hot water prep
Henckels Friodur #17 razor - Scrupleworks Swedish Bridle strop - Rubberset boar brush - Harris Lavender soap - cold water splash - Thayer's witch hazel - Floid balm - Harris Arlington after shave

A true victory shave tonight. The Henckels Friodur had 3 trips back to the hones, before I considered the razor "A Point" as the French would say. Today it was there. No tugging whatsoever on the upper lip and the goatee area, which for me is an indication of shave ready. I'm getting it ready for a good friend, so I want it to be perfect.
The Harris soap had so far never produced a really good lather. And I mean gooooood. You know.
The Rubberset boar brush is just so ridiculously hard, that it gets little use. I think it must have been designed for the USMC...
Tonight though, I pre-soaked the brush in steaming hot water and did the same to the puck of soap and it all came together in the best lather that I have had from this soap so far. Combined with the best edge that (admitted; after three trips back to the hones) I have thus far had on the Friodur, made this an all-rewarding shave. Nicely enjoyed to some Jazz tunes and for the occasion also enjoyed to a small shot of Four Roses. I bid you fine gents goodnight and already wish you a nice and relaxing weekend.
