Razor | Gillette DE | Cream | Faulding ‘Shave’ | After Shave | Old Spice Classic
I was in a bit of a rush this morning so shaved with the DE rather than a straight. The ‘new’ DE I got from an antique shop for ten bucks is very nice. Very aggressive with the open comb style; even with an Astra blade on its third use (normally I only use them twice with my Mühle R 89).
The Faulding ‘Shave’ cream is one of my favourite scented creams; although its performance is not as good as many others. Anyway, it’s cheap and it’s ‘old school’ and so was the DE and the Old Spice aftershave. A lot of people knock Old Spice, but I like the scent of that too; esp in summer when you still get a whiff of the sweetness on a hot afternoon.
Speaking of heat, it’s been a little cosy here lately; apparently we've broken a over 100 year record for the state for the most days over 40 in summer or some such thing.
Word is telling me that the ‘a’ in front of ‘over’ should be an ‘an’, but, even though I think stylistically ‘an’ rolls off the tongue nicely ‘a’ is grammatically correct when matched with ‘record’ rather than ‘over’. You get my drift, don’t you?
I’ve been reading The 2 ½ Pillars of Wisdom my Alexander McCall Smith lately. It’s a good novel to read on the bus and I’ve just finished The Book Thief so needed something else to stop me from staring at people. I did consider Huckleberry Finn, I And Thou, Physics and Philosophy and various Victorian poetry books and various hard cover ‘bought from a second hand shop while spending a weekend at the beach’ books. You know, ones with titles like ‘The Trumpet in The Dust’, ‘Rain in the Wind’ and ‘The Shadow and the Peak’. Anyway, I like the protagonist in The 2 ½ Pillars of Wisdom; Dr von Igelfeld. He has written a book titled ‘Portuguese Irregular Verbs’ and is my kind of man. Self absorbed, full of self importance, correct and pedantic, obsessed with studying others and interested in almost everything (but not as much as he in himself).
I mention this simply because you may be wondering why I went off on a tangent about ‘a’ or ‘an’. Well, clearly, it’s the fault of the book I’m reading…
(yeah I know it's a long post, but I don't post much these days)Last edited by carlmaloschneider; 02-11-2014 at 08:31 AM. Reason: Swapped a comma for a semi colon. I like semi colons lately.
Stranger, if you passing meet me and desire to speak to me, why should you not speak to me? And why should I not speak to you?

Thanked: 1072In memory of our mate Bela
I know I'm a little late, but this is the first shave I've had since his passing.
Of all Bela's razors I think this one would have to be my favorite.
