Nice shave from earlier today.
15/16 Hibbard Spencer & Co., Chicago, Ills "Sharp Set Patent Hollow Ground". Unusually large for a vintage American blade. Custom Wenge scales coated with CA.
The razor reminds me a bit of a Wade & Butcher Celebrated Hollow Ground. However, The Sharp Set has a thicker shank, and tapers down to a very hollow grind. The steel is hard and stiff, yet feels and sounds light, like tin. The razor sings. It took awhile on the hones, but yielded a nice edge.
Paired with Omega 48 Pro boar brush and WD Rustic Shaving Soap Mahogany.
All combined for an excellent shave.
