Obie, I'd love to hear your thoughts on the Saponificio Varesino soaps...
BTW, great choice with the Eau d'Adrien. It's such a good spring/summer citrus fragrance! He saw a lawyer killing a viper on a dunghill hard by his own stable; And the Devil smiled, for it put him in mind of Cain and his brother Abel.

My old friend, good morning.
I also have the Saponificio Varesino Dolomiti. With some exceptions, Italian soaps and creams — all the almond and eucalyptus stuff — don't pluck my strings. These two Saponificio products thus far have been exceptionally good. In every way, I should stress. They create luxurious lather, and have comfortable cushion and slick glide. The fragrances are intoxication.
Of the two, I favor Dolomiti. And right you are, the Annick Goutal finish makes for a delightful shave.
As for the Scriabin music, that's a rough piece for the early morning, but I had not heard it for years and so I thought . . . Oy!

I would put them in the same ranking as, say, Tabac, Lea, Mitchell's Wool Fat, Institute Karite, The Art of Shaving (old formula soaps, which I am told were made by Valobra), the new non-almond smelling Valobra — I like the Vlobra patchouli particularly, because it reminds of my San Francisco days in the 1960s — La Toja Manantiales, and so on. No, the soaps are not Martin de Candre. I think Saponificio Varesino soaps are well worth the try.
