Aqua Velva Blue
An excellent shave right up to the point where the Aqua Velva went on. A lot of guys like this stuff, and I'm trying to since it does condition well, but there's a synthetic/chemical/sort-of-but-not-quite-medicinal smell to it that comes on a few seconds after it's applied and then lingers for a while. I thought it might have been a bad combination with a particular soap the first time it happened, but I get it every time so think it's either in the bottle or something about how it reacts on me.Last edited by DMS; 05-03-2007 at 07:19 PM.

Thursday
Owie.
I played around with honing the W H Sample using my new (old) Carborundum #115 stone, and I guess I didn't do it right, as the razor felt harsh and scrape-y against my face. I should have finished with another razor, but I stupidly plunged ahead and did three full passes with it. My face was nice and pink the rest of the day.
Could be worse, though. I lightened up the pressure, kept the blade angle down, and didn't get any cuts...Last edited by sstulken80; 05-04-2007 at 05:40 AM.

20/30 TM Heirloom horsehide strop
hot shower
Muehle pinsel silvertip brush
Colleen's Provence Lavender soap
8/8 Robert Williams, stag horn
3 passes, one nick on the earlobe when i was not watching the point, alum to the rescue!
Thayer's witch hazel
TOBS #74 a/s splash
third time with the Williams and i think i have the balance worked out between the massive scales and large blade.. i needed to rotate the scales a bit further forward and the torque on the edge balanced. This is harder with the off-hand but practice, practice, practice.Be just and fear not.
