Small Victory: I completed the entire shave from the standing position. Doing anything shave related sitting down just feels weird to me but all my shaves since the accident have been done sitting down. Thank God for one more small step towards normal

For my next trick I'll strop a traditional straight razor

Don't do it on pain meds. I killed two strops trying to strop when loaded.

No pain meds since day 10 or so. I didn't like mashed potatoes between my ears and I generally like to um...evacuate more than once a week. I opted for GI M&Ms (800 mg Motrin) instead. Since I got home from rehab on 14 July I'm not even taking them anymore, just BP meds, a daily vitamin, coffee and Grizzly snuff. The people at the hospital thought I was crazy too

I have to admit I was a bit skidish about pain meds in general. I've heard too many stories about people developing addictions that start with legitimate medical use of these things. I decided early on that I would only take them when the pain was unbearable. Once the leg began to heal, the pain turned into occasional discomfort so I quit taking the hard stuff

That is good GI. They can become addicting but only if you have been taking them for quite awhile, then your body develops a tolerance for them making you want more, sometimes stronger meds. Good luck my friend!
