The "staff" knew that the Joe Chandler "Wootz" was an appropriate blade to remove my two days of growth this morning... It is an amazing razor that never fails to please. It is as close to a true "damascus" steel as modern metallurgy has been able to create. It is NOT pattern welded. And the rosewood scales are so soft and comfortable in the hand. The "wootz" steel, from Al Pendray, has such a different face feel to it. And it is one of probably less than 10 such blades Joe ever made, so it is particularly precious to me.

He saw a lawyer killing a viper on a dunghill hard by his own stable; And the Devil smiled, for it put him in mind of Cain and his brother Abel.

I think I've said it before, but it's probably one of the best looking razors on this planet...

Thursday
Henckell's 14 in aluminum scales
Westholme Horween cordovan strop
Proraso boar brush (gift from my sister)
D. R. Harris lavender shaving soap
Cold splash
Thayer's rose witch hazel
Truefitt & Hill 1805 balm
Kolonya Lavanta EdC
The boar brush was a nice experience. Lots of backbone and not even scritchy.
Reading up a bit on how to break in such a brush all seem to agree is just to use it often. So I will.
Fantastic shave. Did three passes, although the third was academic.

For Phrank (to fuel RAD), here's an older thread of another lucky owner:

Sorry Sir Bill, I joined in October 2010. Didn't know that fact.
Just saying, that IF you'd ever get tired of that razor...
