Thanked: 4827Thanks. I was pretty surprised. Apparently my wife does listen to me. The stone is an emerald, which is my birth stone.
I may have to strop this one for a while before I get my regular stropping speed. I have to strop like a beginner because the flip is way off, all in good time. It's not what you know, it's who you take fishing!

A shave from the street of shame
Razor: c. 1910 11/16 Carbo Magnetic (with retailer's stamp on tang: J Osborn, 100 Fleet St, London)
Soap: Palmolive stick
Brush: Plisson black badger
Finish: Neal's Yard witch hazel and Morgan's 'anti ageing' balm
Trivia: Until the late 1980s, London's Fleet Street ('the street of shame') was the centre of the UK newspaper industry, where the printing presses ran 24 hours a day and journalists filled every bar. Rupert Murdoch's move of his News International operations to Wapping spelled the beginning of the end for the street where today only the building facades serve as a reminder of its past.
