Well I have to say the guard was I little annoying. I will shave a few more times with it, likely without the guard so I can see where the blade is. The quality of shave was ok, but not being able to see the blade always makes me nervous.

Beautiful. Do you feel guilty when you drive old men on fixed incomes further down the rabbit hole? Now I have to look for one!

Go for it! My experience is it is cool to be able to use your regular hones and strops. Get it right!
Should be able to get the same edge as on your hollow straights. Things are very hollow ground.
I go against the guard pretty firmly? I use bench strops for it as well..

I learned you have to trust the guard. It works pretty well for me. Like a properly honed Rolls, only thinner hollow-ground.
Would be easy to bend/tune the guard to your preference?
    Love me some Everite!

I saw a few of those Friodur 250 Anniversary editions on eBay over the past year or so, one of which was not all that stratospherically priced. Count me among yourselves as one who felt some serious temptation.

    Cheers fellas.

I've seen a few over the years on fleabay that were too much for my wallet but this one came up at a great price so I snapped it up. The laser etched spine is wonderful.
