Modern straight razors, factory produced, comprise a small selection. Dovo, Boker, Wacker are the prominent names. And of course, Ralf Aust. I would take Ralf Aust over all the others. These are fine razors, take a sweet edge, and keep it, and they are well made. You will not go wrong with Ralf Aust. I’ve had many Ralf Aust razors, in various blade sizes, and each has been a quality razor. By sound I assume you mean a singing blade. I don’t bother with such details. I just hone the razor and shave away.

Thanked: 7Yeah...maybe I should have asked if the steel was thicker than others, or on par with others, as the thickness makes them sound different.
I have a customized Koraat 14-2.0 that is a "bellied" full-hollow grind. That baby sounds and feels very different that other full-hollows...and is also stiffer. (Which I love). You can follow me on MeWe at "Wet Shaving Universe".

Well, I have not compared the steel among these brands of razors. As I noted, I don’t pay much attention to such details. I just hone the razor and shave away. To go back to your original question about Ralf Aust, this is a good razor and it takes a fine edge. Enjoy.
