    It sure can be! Most irregularities - small chips/deviations that I can see with a really good 15X loupe will shave just fine. I can see very small ones with mine.
    The ones visible with a USB that show steel falling apart or structurally failing because of coarse grain or poor tempering is frightening indeed but the upside is you can see that it is the steel that is compromised.
    I haven't used the USB in a while so it was fun and always wanting to improve on the image I made a ramp for the razor to elevate it relative to the scope (more toward looking straight down on the edge) after that photo to increase clarity at the absolute edge. About 20 deg. makes for a nice image.
    Putting a really nice looking edge at this level of magnification and testing it usually gives up a stellar shave.
    Entire image width is 1.5mm - .0625" of the edge.
    Sorry to derail a bit. There is not much on this forum with regard to such things.
