Thanked: 137Today I decided to try and be smart - I have a friend's 21st on Friday (it's Wed here today) so I want to be as perfectly shaven as I can on Friday. A straight shave lasts me 2 1/2 days, while a cartridge shave lasts me a day. I decided therefore that today would be my day to experiment with lathers and use a cartridge, so I could have a straight shave on Friday, smell awesome (since I'd perfect the lather's scent today), and be good and smooth for the par-tay.
Lather #1: Omega SS and Tweezerman brush: good lather, but a little lacking in cushion. Nice and cooling, although the slight badger funk from the new-ish brush meant that the mild aroma was slightly reduced in pleasantness.
Lather #2: Uberlather of Col. Conk Bay Rum SS (with a dash of Pinaud Bay Rum that I added to boost the scent when I melted it into its new bowl). I used Palmolive SC and my Semogue 2015 brush for this - great smell, nice and slick, and great cushion - think that this may do me for my party shave.

Thanks to the generosity of holli4pirating, I borrowed a Wostenholm to experience Sheffield steel for the first time. Using the Coates with the straight I was able to get wonderful WTG and XTG passes which I followed up with a touch up with my superspeed. The razor glided over my face and it was very easy to handle. A great shave and many thanks to holli4pirating. I like the blade alot, btw, could you tell?
