Thanked: 293Some more new hardware came in this week... Stay tuned for my other new addition(s)...
RR Paladin 3"
Palmera 14
Rooney 3/1
Tabac SS
Thayers WH
Tabac AS
The Palmera lives up to the hype. It came, after however many years in some Argentinian closet, with some scum built up on it. Some MAAS and a microfiber cloth got this thing to a bright shine, and it was shave ready out of the box... not just shave ready, but melt your whiskers shave ready. Spanish steel...Last edited by Oglethorpe; 11-01-2009 at 09:09 PM.

Date line: Sunday November 1st 2009
Location, 52° 45' 55.10460 - 0° 57' 31.22065
Beard Prep: Boots Botanical face wash, conditioner, hot towel soak, Lather whilst Stropping, hot towel and fresh lather to shave.
Razor: W&B "Special" fresh off the yellow coti after serious frown removal.
Strop: 12 Laps Crox on Dovo Cloth, 60 Laps on Clean Dovo Leather
Brush: Kent Pure Badger, of course.
Soap: Palmolive Soap Stick and Cream, Little Glycerin, in Denby over Pyrex Redneck Scuttle, to form Uberlather.
Astringent: Alum Block
Balm: Nivea for men anti-irritation post shave balm
AS: TABAC!
Result: Very light smooth shave.
Summary: Palmolive Uberlather is a delight, as is the W&B, together they gave me a smooth gliding shave, and new to me Tabac rocks my world, a light splash after the alum, followed by a little more mixed with the nivea is a refreshing soothing treat for my face. Tabac SC is on order.

Location: 40°50'38.61"N 73°56'19.68"W
Razor: C.V. Heljestrand MK 31
Brush: Semogue 2000
Soap: D.R. Harris Marlborough
Astringent: Dickenson's Witch Hazel
AS: Aveda balm+Ogallala Bay Rum
Result: Big step backward on this one, weepers, cuts, stubble still hanging around. Did not like the soap at all, maybe I didn't get the mixture right. Also the 31 seemed to be catching a little bit. Some careful laps on the latigo strop after the shave and it's passing HHT. Curious. Might have been dry soap. Proof I should stick to what works.
