First ever SotD post, fifth shave ever.
Pre-Shave: Hot Shower, Pacific Pre-Shave Oil
Razor: Boker King Cutter - New Production
Brush: Custom Made Spalted Maple Handle w/ Silver Tip
Cream: C.O. Bigelow Premium Shave Cream
~First time using a cream. I've been using a home-made Sandalwood Goats Milk Soap from Odins Edge that lathers up quite nice. The Bigelow Cream was nice as well, and had a "cooling" effect to it while on the face, ingredients list Menthol. I would like it better if I lathered it in a scuttle I think so that it stayed hot.
Astringent: C.O. Bigelow Skin Tonic- Witch Hazel Formula
~ First time using this product as well. I have previously been using Thayers Original Witch Hazel which I like a lot. The Bigelow Tonic contains alcohol where the Thayers does not. All in all it is nice but I prefer the Thayers. I was at Bath & Body Works yesterday with the girlfriend and they had quite the sale. This is usually 15.00 and I paid just 3.50 for it so figured it was worth a try. I think i'll use this at night rather then after my shaves.
AS: Nivea for Men Sensitive Post Shave Balm
Moisturizer: AOS Calendula & Orange Essential Oil

First shave of 2010
Prep>>Hot shower + proraso pre/post cream
Razor>> I decided to shave exclusively with the Boker Edelweisse 5/8 since I gave it a full "physical" I honed it on the 4K and 8K Norton stone and then a final polishing job on the 10K Naniwa. I used a pyramid progression starting at 20 strokes. Followed by 10 laps on ChmOx pasted on a paddle strop. For the finale 30/30 SRD red latigo three inch strop. This razor is sharp! I pay spacial attention to the blade angle. Did three passes w.a.x. Face is squaky. Boy, I love my Boker.
Brush>>Omega Silver tip badger
S/C>>TOBS Sandalwood
Astringent>> Hogrider's special. Dark Rum, With Hazel, Allspice, cinnamon and nutmeg cured for two weeks. Rub it on, and asked the Mrs to smell test: she said it smelled wonderful, spicy, a very faint hint of rum in the background.
A/S>>Aqua Velva.
Results: BBS. a great shave to start the new year....SHAVE ON.
Adult Drink>>Yellow Tail Shiraz.Last edited by Hogrider; 01-02-2010 at 07:59 PM.
