Mmm good Point Dear J, I know it does make the skin feel tighter, perhaps any remaining stubble withdraws slightly, in an attempt to escape the sting! hahaha

I do enjoy the Alum block, I like it so much that I bought a Vintage NOS one from a long since closed English maker C1950's

First shave with this razor. Quite the PITA getting this thing sharp but I think I at least made it shaveable. The shave was nice and close and comfortable but I suspect a little touch up hone wouldn't hurt. For me at least these thicker blades (with so little feedback) make it very difficult to judge. Barbasol in a can is probably the best of the best. I have used it before but not with Aloe. Very rich and thick. No irritation and a BBS.
