New H. Böker Razor
I've had several messages asking me about the new Böker razor pictured on my post today. Here are my thoughts about it for those contemplating a new razor.
As a self-professed vintage straght razor snob I wouldn't have considered one of the newly manufactured Bökers except for the fact that it was available on an auction site for a very low price. Most vendors are selling the razor new for around $400! It shaves great but for that kind of money you can get several wonderful vintage razors that shave just as well, including vintage Bökers. It is rumored that Heribert Wacker worked on these extra hollow ground Bökers but who really knows. (Wacker-worked razors are still available at half the price.) So in short, unless you can get a great deal on the price go with one of the great vintage razors offered regularly on the forum.

Oil Painting circa late 1800's by Sidney Crosier, Laconia, Indiana. Sid traded his art for food, clothing, (razors?). Listed and member of the Hoosier Salon and "Wonderland Way" Society, his work was shown with noted artist T.C. Steele. From my personal collection.
