After the usual 1-2 minute hot towel prep:
vintage Fields badger
1941 Ranger Tech/Iridium
Penhaligons Racquets SC
RL Safari Aftershave Balm
no EdT today
This is my favorite superspeed like razor. It's the first version made, and was in production for less than a year. You don't see all that many of these, and it's a shame more people don't end up trying one. Surprisingly reasonable(under $50 in good shape) considering the scarcity, with a head that shines brighter than any other superspeed I know of. This model has no end caps, which I like. Very similar to the 1934 type Aristocrats on that unusual look.
This gave me an excellent shave this morning, something no other superspeed does. There's something a litle different with this Ranger.........the head design and weight distribution may be what's up.
Man, I almost hate using this shaving cream.....sorta running a bit low. Gotta be some of the best lather I've ever seen or felt.......medium/strong scented with a classic barbershop slant to my nose. Very true to the cologne by the same name.
BBS results,
Martin

Thanked: 530A Belated Birthday shave.. And a fantastic one. Warning, guys. This is going to be one shameless plug after another.
The razors, Honed by Dave Stephens:
1. W. Greaves and Sons wedge, a rough regrind that was REEEEEALLY pitted. Scaled in Black TI Scales with a white wedge
2. Le Beuer from Germany, Scaled in White TI Scales with a black wedge
3. A George Wostenholm and Sons 8/8 near wedge, done up in beautiful buckeye burl scales by Dave.... My favorite razor
All of them shave fantastically and earned a spot in the rotation
Strop: SRD Modular paddle. It's sweet. The end.
Brush: Stephens Wood Working from SRD, 24mm finest. Also turned by Dave. He does fantastic work.
The Cream... This was probably the best part of my shave... I've just received my first ever shipment of The Bomb (By AlRaz) and, BOY was this overdue! It is truly the best lather I have ever had. Purely fantastic. The cushion, the glide, the protection, all of it was FANTASTIC! And the scents... WOW, is that Calypso spectacular! I only wish it was a little stronger, but I'm a bay-rum fanatic. If I could only ever have one lather, it would be Al's. I only used a pea sized amount, but the lather blew up! And to try it out, I overwatered the cream at the end (it really doesn't need much hydration to perform) and the super thin lather still shaved great, if not as cushiony. Definitely an A+, Top of the line, Best in show product.
Then, as if the Bomb wasn't good enough, I got a sample of The Bomb ASB. I decided to really put this stuff through it's paces, so I wanted to shave my face raw.... After five facial passes, WTG, XTG (By this point I'm almost completely BBS!), ATG and two more WTG, my face was still only slightly irritated and I didn't feel any burn (I'm telling you, fantastic glide) I finished up, cleaned up, and put on the ASB.
Man, this stuff is fantastic. It hardly took any of it to cover my face, and the experience started with the perfect amount of burn to perk you up, then smoothed out to complete perfection. And the smell was wonderful.
Al, Best products anywhere.
Sorry for turning my SOTD into a mini-review, but I am thrilled with this stuff, and can't wait for next shave... If the hairs ever decide to come back!

Thanked: 1This was the best shave of my life today.
Razor: Freshly honed Thiers-Issard with horn scales
Brush: Theirs-Issard badger hair in horn
Soap: Gentlemen's Best Signature Series
Preshave Prep: Art of Shaving Sandalwood Oil
Postshave: Alum Block, then Art of Shaving Sandalwood Balm
I don't think I ever realized that my razor wasn't quite perfectly honed, but I just got a package with my Naniwa Waterstones and my SRD Premium English Bridle Strop, and I refreshed my razor and then shaved with it. Literally like a knife through hot butter. The smell of a freshly honed razor slicing through a good hot lather is something without compare, as well.
Anyway, glad I finally now know what I'm aiming for with every straight shave. Best experience with a razor I've ever had!
Cheers!
