    SOTD Saturday July 24, 2010

Razor: 5/8 Wostenholm Pipe Razor Full Hollow Round Point
    Soap/Mug: Tabac
    Scuttle: RAB Ceramic
    Brush: Col Conk Barbershop Badger
    ASB: Nivea replenishing
    Aftershave: Pinaud Lilac Vegetal

Used the Tabac SS same as usual. Didn't observe much glide or cushion. It was very similar to the Williams SS but didn't dry as fast. IMHO the Tabac doesn't have cushion. I could feel the razor on the skin during the shaving strokes however, the Tabac does the same as the Williams in that it encases the whiskers and stands them up for cutting. The Tabac delivered a very close and comfortable shave and provided exactly what you would expect a lather to do. It's a great soap but no glide or cushion IMHO.

Hey Bruce, do u face lather with Tabac or build it in a scuttle, I have found that with soaps like Tabac and MWF if i face lather i get much better results with the slickness and glide of the lather, try it out It might make a difference

Hi Matt, I always bowl lather. (then put the brush in a scuttle for the warm lather) I tend to work the lather into the beard with the brush pretty well but I will try the face lather to see if it makes a difference. The MWF gives me plenty of slickness. That stuff is the slipperiest lather of all the soaps so far. Thanks for the interest in the observations that we're conducting Matt. Stay tuned.

Sorry, this was actually last nights shave but even so....Oh My!!!

    Razor: The Post Shears Company
    Brush: Vulfix 20mm Best Badger
Soap: Ogallala Bay Rum and Sweet Orange(Awesome!!!!)
    Aftershave: Ogallala Bay Rum
    Pipe: Peterson Donegal Rocky #408
Pipe Tobacco: Local shops Spicy Vanilla

Wonderful shave, tried something a little different with my angles and it worked very nicely. The pipe was bought as an estate in wonderful shape and I'm loving it.

Today, four more have joined my rotation - The Kings and their Bodyguards

    Evening honing - DMT1.2k, Naniwa 5k, Naniwa 8k -> TM Apprentice Strop
Presoaked the Thater in my SRD Mixing Bowl
Hot shower with CarrieM's OakMoss bathsoap
    CarrieM's OakMoss vPink shave cream
King's Double Tempered, King Midas, Greaves Fencing Foils w/dual notches, Greaves with thumbnotch
    Warm water rinse
    CarrieM's Oakmoss AS "Gel"

No, those King's are not small razors; they are normal 5/8's razors. The Greaves are extra long. And I just noticed the reflection of my Listerine in the Greaves.... It's not even close to where I took the photo....
