Left a slightly rough patch on my throat, but the lack of cuts or nicks makes it a good shave nonetheless.

Jim,
It works nicely. I apply it with damp hands and work it in well. It dries with a matte finish and leaves my skin feeling very smooth. I seldom use it as an aftershave, but always enjoy it when I do.
RT
RT,
That is one great looking razor.
Terry
Terry,
The razor came from Robert Williams (PapaBull). My first shave with it today...shaves as great as it looks!
RT
Best sraight razor shave since I started, and it was courtesy of my favorite Wade and Butcher 5/8 razor. Not much to look at, but a great shaving razor!!
I guess I'm a simple man, but a simple soak with a hot towel to presoften the beard, lather with an inexpensive boar bristle brush using Proraso soap, and a good, close shave with the W&B 5/8.
My after treatment is likewise very simple, using Aloe Vera gel after my cold water rinse.
Great shave, though, and my Mach 3 can't beat it with twice the number of strokes.
...back home after three days on the road with a cartridge thingy...
Hot shower
Pure badger antique brush
Unscented goats milk bar soap
Wade & Butcher 7/8 "India Steel" razor
Fresh Aloe squeezed from the plant on the window ledge
It is good to be home!

Over the weekend, I was running all over the place and I was too tired for a proper shave, so I used my Philishave... The problem was that the shave left me more than a day's growth after shaving with a straight. Well, today I said "enough is enough," took a shower, lathered up with the edge shave gel, stropped, rinsed that crapola off my face, then used my C&E brush and Cavendish Black soap.. Then I took the Taylor's Eye Witness to my face and ended up with an amazing shave. A rinse with warm water, a rinse with cold water, Dominica Bay Rum and some facial creme finishde the job. The experience was almost religious. The crazy part is that tomorrow, my face will still be cleaner than right after a shave with my Philips :D

Gents, I apologize for the DE, but I'm evaluating blades for one a member of the DE forum at which I am a moderator. However, since I started posting SOTD pics again this week, I did not want to get back out of the habit.

Joe,
The Bay Rum doesn't last very long, maybe 15 minutes, if that. I put on the cologne after I've dressed and had breakfast and by that time, the Bay Rum has faded.

Dammm that is wild. I will admit its not as strong later in the day but if I rub my face I can still smell it.Quote:

The reason this shave was so wonderful was the ambiance...the window was open in the bathroom creating a nice ocean like breeze and the shaving soap reminded me of the smells of the beach when I used to live on the coast. It took me back to the days when I young and single and getting ready for a first date. The days when I didnt have a care in the world other than getting laid that night (ok well I still want to get laid but somehow there are more important things in life now...god I feel old)...the days when I actually looked for an excuse to take my shirt off. It was a wonderful trip back into my younger days and the smells of old...it reminded me of how much I miss that time in my life, but also reminded me of how far I have come. Probably my best shave yet.
