Yes, I know I set myself up. Got a good laugh out of the whole thing. Anyway, I am looking to pick up a Fily but the prices have seemed to climb unreasonably.
Eventually I'll see one I like and won't care about the price. At this point it has not happened.

    Livi | Kanayama | Bomb Potomac + Proraso White + Glycerin | Semogue 830 | Thayer's Lavender | CarrieM ASB | Knize Ten

What a great shave! I know I'm bucking the trend with now Halloween decorations, but I substituted in some Bavarian brandy delivered by one of my best friends who just returned from Garmisch. I was reading a thread wherein AlRaz (of Al's Shaving) said most people tend to underhydrate their lather. So, I added more water this morning. As I started mixing, I just knew I had too much water, but I kept whipping and soon the Semogue made some of the most rich lather I've ever had. The resulting shave was sublime as the Livi made the 2-days of growth seem like but a ghostly memory! I finished it all off with The Knize! What more could you ask?

Great SOTD Bill! I know exactly what you mean, I keep telling myself that I am going to ruin my lather if I add more water and then I do it anyway and am always rewarded. Thanks to your amazing SOTD's, I ordered a Semogue 830 last week. I can't wait until it arives. Cheers!

    Glenn,

Thanks for the compliments. You'll like the 830; it's a great brush. I wasn't sure what to expect because I've always been a badger guy, but the boar is great too!!!

Just be careful, you don't want to try to follow all my ADs - they are multiplying too fast!!! I don't know which is worse cost-wise: Straight Razor AD or Cologne AD...

    Keep your great SOTDs coming!

    Post The Science of Shaving

    Hi guys,
Sorry for the thread hijack, but I just posted this thread about the science of shaving...some of you may find it interesting. A lot of fascinating tidbits (if you're a geek like me ).

    Default Happy Halloween Evening

    Razor: Henckels Platinum
    Soap: Speik (in scuttle)
    Prep: Hot towel
    AS: Bodysource AS and cologne

Result: I don't use the scuttle enough, the warm suds were great! 2 passes in the goatee area, 3 for the rest. Very, very smooth...like butta! This razor is the stuff. All around a great shave, except where I shaved over some razor bumps on my neck hiding under the stubble. Still a super deluxe, gourmet shave though!

Looks like a great start Tom! Have you decided on your travel shave kit yet? How many razors are you going to pack? I'm just curious. When I travel, I only bring 1 out of fear of them being "lost" with the airlines. Have a fun & safe trip

    Glenn
