Star Brand str8/Gillette menthol cream/Frank silvertip/Pierre CardinNot a lot of freeze in the Gillette, but just enough to feel refreshed. A very nice shave today. I still haven't been able to get BBS with a straight, but I'm making progress. There are some really good pictures today of some awesome blades. Have some great shaves today gentlemen.
Preshave: Hot shower
Razor: F. Herder Abr. S. Solingen No. 20 (6/8", full hollow, muted square point)
Strop: DOVO Cowshide
Brush: My new Shavemac 410 28mm
Superlather: Tabac and TBS Maca Root
AS: hot towel, cold towel, Alum, cold towel, Nivea Balm Sensitive
Result: A perfect near BBS shave. Zero irritation, 3 small cuts on the upperlip from a wrong ATG move, but the were gone after a cold towel.
The Tabac and Maca root really complement each-other's fragrance, it'll be my goto superlather from now on. The lather was very dense, moist and slick. I'm very happy with the brush, it's breaking in nicely.
Tomorrow I have a funeral from one of my mothers friends, this shave will last till then. Enjoy the friday gentlemen!

Well, I picked this baby up in the classifieds this week from "Angeleyes." The scales by Max mesmerized me and I had no control over the purchase. :rofl2: Needless to say, I am glad for my "involuntary" purchase as this thing shaved like an absolute dream.

It's from The Body Shop(For Men Maca Root Shave Cream: Men's Skin Care: Men - The Body Shop), I have the tube, don't know if it differs from the tub. That shavemac is one huge piece of craftsmanship, it has shed 3 hairs in 25 lathers.Quote:

A fine shave this morning with the Spike, a razor I picked up at a local flea market and cleaned up and honed on my coticule. It's a great feeling to have brought this one back to working condition. It's another "local" product with Union Cutlery being located in Olean, New York back in the day. The PC cream always provides great conditioning for the face but I seem to have difficulty working up a good lather. I don't have that difficulty with the PC soaps, so it must be me. A fine finish with the Floid, Anherb and the Gris Clair. And today will be better than yesterday.

Everything was superb except the Cella. I am just not getting this SS at all. I know that it's a favorite of many Brothers here but to me it reminds me of the home-made lye soap that my Grandma used to make on the farm. It has just about that caustic smell with just a hint of the fells-naptha bar soap smell that my other Grandma used to shave into the laundry tub of her old wringer washing machine. It produces those big laundry bubbles and is about as dense as surf foam. The only way I can get it to work at all is mix in some other shave soap but what's the point in that? I will say for the big tub at only $11. bucks it's definitely cheap but that is the point! Sorry but I'm just not feelin' the love for Cella! :td

I do use a rolls frequently. I've found it best initially to hone as you would a straight. (I use 1k, 4k, then8k) Then for touch ups I use the provided hone. You can get excellent results with the rolls once you set a good edge. Stropping takes time on the provided strop. For daily use 2-4 min stropping before each shave and 1 min after each use works for me. The initial stropping after setting the edge can sometimes take 15 or more minutes to get smooth. I am falling in love with this C-MON more and more every time I use it, but today was a special shave: it all happened when i mixed Al's bomb with Mama Bears Soap.The uber that came out of that makes most other lathers I've whipped up in the past seem very ordinary and not so uber...
