Razor was pulling ever so slightly so after I finished I took it for some trips on the pasted paddle... hope I didn't doink it up. Put it back at the top of my rotation so I can test it.

Illinois Strop (10 linen, 40 leather)

I'm continually impressed with the traditional straight's ability to mow down my beard. DE's and the Feather take 3 passes + touch-up, paying careful attention to the swirling growth patterns, but the straights whack it down in only two passes, N-S and ear-to-chin. Maybe it's the reduced sharpness, but the straights don't seem to care as much what direction the beard is growing, and they don't seem to be bothered by the really dense beard in my goatee area like the Feather and DE's are.
Whatever the reason, I've been a happy camper since I got the straights going again.

Shaved with this on monday night and it was tugging a tiny bit so I took it for a trip to see the pasted paddles. Shaves smooth as a dream today. I may not be "good" at this yet but I'm at least getting the hang of it
