Again with the DSL problems (I hope they have the problem fixed for good). We have fiber optic line that runs straight to the house and when we lose service the telephone company is always dumb founded (read, they dispatch a technician, find nothing, and then it “suddenly” starts working again in a day or 3). This time they said it was a central networking card at the main station that had to be replaced...we'll see

I finished this restoration (I'll post in that thread later today)and have been dialing in the edge over the last few days. I've been following Robert & Rene's lead and using the same cream and brush so I can determine what is happening with the edge. I did have a minor accident while taking today's photo, I dropped the razor and it landed on the tip of the wedge and put some small dents/scuffs on it...

The gear & prep:

Prep:Hot Shower
Scuttle: Dirty Bird Custom Double
Brush: TGN Premium Silvertip 24mm
Strop:SRD PIV English Bridle (only on Sunday)
Cream:Frankincense, Myrrh, & Vetiver Custom Bomb
Razor: Wade & Butcher in Amboyna Burl
After shave: Ogallala Bayrum & Sandalwood(love this stuff)
EDT: Cartier “Roadster”

Friday's honing progression: Norton 1k/4k/8k, Naniwa 12K, Shoubudani Asagi 100 laps w/ slurry, then shave (no stropping).
Result:VERY sharp, smoothness was a bit lacking, a very nice shave though.
Saturday's honing: Shoubudani Asagi 100 laps water only, then shave, (again no stropping).
Result:Very Sharp and quite smooth, an improvement over Friday's shave.
Today: Shoubudani Asagi 20 slow laps plain water, strop 60 leather.
Result:A very nice shave today, I think the edge is right where I want it, the scale is slightly tipped to the sharpness side, yet the smoothness side is right there.

Last week was amazing Gents and this week is off to an excellent start!

Cheers!
